Day 1 - Bandaranaike Airport → Negombo→ Beach / hotel pool → Optional sunset catamaran / lagoon boat

Land at Bandaranaike International Airport and reach your family-friendly beach hotel in Negombo within minutes. Let the children splash in the hotel pool or run barefoot along the beach before a magical sunset catamaran ride on the lagoon. The sea air, warm welcome, and easy first evening set the perfect family tone for the adventures that lie ahead.

Day 2 - Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage→ Rural village experience (Iparanigama)→ Pool time at leisure

Drive inland for one of the holiday’s most memorable moments: watching Sri Lanka’s rescued elephants bathe and splash in the river at Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage. Continue to a rural village experience where children interact with local life – bullock carts, rice farming, and village games. An evening at the eco-lodge pool rounds off an action-packed family day.

Day 3 - Drive to Kandy→ Temple of the Tooth Relic→ Kandy Lake walk→ Gem museum/handicraft workshop →Cultural dance show with fire walking

Arrive in Kandy, Sri Lanka’s cultural capital. Visit the majestic Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic before a fascinating gem museum where children can learn about Sri Lanka’s world-famous sapphires and rubies. A stroll around the famous Kandy Lake precedes the evening’s dramatic highlight: a Kandyan cultural performance featuring acrobatics, mask dancing, and firewalking. Unforgettable.

Day 4 - Kandy → Ella scenic train → Arrival in Ella→ Optional town walk

Board the legendary hill country train for one of the world’s most celebrated railway journeys, a slow, window-seat adventure through waterfalls, misty mountain passes, and rolling tea plantations. Children and adults alike press their faces to the windows as Sri Lanka’s most cinematic landscape scrolls past. Arrive in Ella for a relaxed evening in a boutique hill lodge.

Day 5 - Nine Arch Bridge visit → Little Adam's Peak → Optional zip-line → Udawalawe National Park

Start with a morning visit to the famous Nine Arch Bridge, then tackle the gentle hike up Little Adam’s Peak for rewarding valley views – achievable for most ages. Older, more adventurous children can try the zip-line through the forest canopy before the drive south to Udawalawe National Park. Check into the safari lodge as the sun sets over the plains.

Day 6 - Morning jeep safari → Elephant Transit Home → Hikkaduwa →Beach resort/homestay check-in

A morning jeep safari through Udawalawe National Park delivers extraordinary wildlife encounters – elephant herds, water buffalo, crocodiles and colourful birdlife in an open savannah landscape perfectly suited to family safari-going. Visit the Elephant Transit Home, where orphaned calves are rehabilitated. Then drive to Hikkaduwa’s beautiful beach and check into a beachfront resort or homestay.

Day 7 - Relaxed beach morning→ Turtle hatchery & conservation centre→ Snorkeling / glass-bottom boat over coral reefs→ Optional coastal cycling or kayaking → Beachside seafood farewell dinner

A beach day designed for pure family joy. Visit the turtle hatchery and conservation centre, where rescued eggs are incubated and hatchlings released to the sea, a genuinely moving experience for children. Day 8 - Drive to Colombo→Optional café / shopping stop→Bandaranaike Airport

After a final breakfast together, drive back to Colombo with an optional stop for last-minute shopping – children love the colourful Sri Lankan crafts, wooden toys and sweet local snacks. Transfer to the airport for your international flight home, every family member carrying their own favourite memory from eight days on this magical island.
